Lieutenant Commander (Hon.) Bear Grylls, Royal Navy
The Scout Association
Please convey my warm thanks to the Cub Scouts for their loyal greetings, sent to mark the One Hundreth Anniversary of the founding of the movement, which is being commemorated this year.
For many years and through changing times, the Cub Scouts have allowed young people to develop their skills, embark on new adventures, support their local communities and form friendships.
As your Patron, I was interested to learn of how the centenary will be celebrated throughout the year, leading up to 16th December where Promise Parties will be held across the United Kingdom.
As you reflect on your long history and look to the future, I have pleasure in sending my best wishes to all Cub Scouts, past and present, who will be celebrating this most special anniversary.
Where: University Sports Ground, Wide Lane, Southampton, SO50 5PE
When: Sunday 22nd March 2015, Kick Off at 10:00AM
The annual County Cub Football Competition takes place in March and details were distributed at the County Cub Leaders meeting in November 2014. Teams need to complete the entry forms and return to Ivan Sparks no later than 8th of March 2015. Please could all district confirm either directly to Ivan or to Amanda Thompson if they are coming or not.
All teams should supply a referee, maybe one of your young leaders could use it as part of their training; a ball; a whistle.
This is the 31st year of the competition and Ivan is looking for help and someone to take over the reins. If you are able to please contact ACC Cub Scouts on [email protected]
For the second year in a row the County Cub Football competition had to be postponed and eventually took place on Sunday 31st August 2014.
This annual event was well supported by 14 Districts and all the teams that entered were a credit to their Districts and to Scouting.
The sun shone and all the competitors gave their very best performance until the last two teams met in a thrilling final. The finalists this year were Chandlers Ford District and Waterlooville, with Chandlers Ford retaining the trophy and once again being crowned champions. The plate competition was won by New Forest East with Itchen North the runners up.
Well done to all the participating teams and a big thank you to Ivan, his team and all the volunteer referees for once again making a very successful event.
